about the studio

At Kasey Smith Interiors, we believe a well-designed home has a powerful influence over your mental and physical well-being. Specializing in new construction and large-scale renovations in Wilmington, NC and surrounding areas, we design with an emphasis on refined simplicity and elevated ease while prioritizing a seamless and stress-free process.

We are committed to creating interior spaces that are not only functional and comfortable, but artistic and purposeful with a unique edge. From concept to completion, we guide you through every step - architectural collaboration, space planning, material selection, custom furnishings, build team communication, and final styling - with a focus on beauty, functionality, and ease.

Our approach is collaborative and detail-driven, ensuring each project reflects the individuality of our clients while carrying a consistent thread of natural materials and laid back, quiet sophistication. Whether designing a home from the ground up or breathing new life into a historic renovation, we believe great design should feel effortless, inviting, and enduring.

Kasey Smith, founder and principal designer of Kasey Smith Interiors, trained at NC State's College of Design and spent years working across creative fields before launching her own firm in 2020. But her real education is at home: she's a mother to two rambunctious boys and a golden retriever, a wife, an equestrian, a surfer, an ocean lover, and a foodie, someone who knows firsthand that a beautiful house still has to survive real life and support moments of rest.

That's the lens she designs through: art, fashion, architecture, and a joyful house full of noise. Kasey is deeply passionate about the power environment has on how you feel, and her aim is always the same: interiors that feel elevated but not precious, sophisticated but not stiff, built for the family actually living in them.

MEET kasey

Kara’s love of design began in childhood, spending school days off by her father’s side on construction sites - wandering through unfinished spaces, watching designers at work, and absorbing the art of creating environments. By middle school, there was no question - it was interior design. She pursued every design class her high school offered and went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design from Cape Fear Community College.

Today, Kara brings that lifelong passion into her role as a Technical Designer and Design Manager, translating vision into precise plans and overseeing projects with meticulous care. When she’s not crafting her next inspired space, she can be found outdoors, exploring with her miniature Australian Shepherd, Millie.
